“A dazzling hat-trick from a master of her craft” – NME

“Solar Power is a deliciously bizarre brew: a summer cocktail spiked with unpredictable twists, and a scintillating force” – FINANCIAL TIMES

“Escapist, folk-tinged pop, whose wafting harmonies, acoustic guitar and sun worship are underpinned by an energising self-awareness” – THE TIMES

“Lorde’s ability to make moving art is everlasting” – iD

"Lorde excels on third album Solar Power"
'Solar Power sees Lorde shed the weight of accumulated expectations, gliding across mellower tracks without dulling the talon-sharp commentary that’s been there since Royals' – THE AUSTRALIAN

"...a hypnotic storyteller...heart-swelling euphoria." – SYDNEY MORNING HERALD

Lorde the musician, social critic, and diarist has never been sharper, thankfully. As Solar Power meditates on the tension between achievement and comfort, it grazes masterpiece status—the only thing holding it back may be Lorde’s disinterest in chasing accolades. - THE ATLANTIC

Sonically, the tracks on Solar Power feel as if they blend into one, but it doesn’t feel same-y. It gives it a sweet, psychedelic, meandering feeling that lets you sink into the album rather than feel jerked into the next track — more than an album, it is a vibe.
It’s clear throughout Solar Power that disappearing was, is, the right decision for Lorde as a person and as an artist. Solar Power is a lot of things, but more than anything, it sounds like true autonomy. Making the decision to opt out of a busy, overwhelming world isn’t easy, but if you sit back and let Solar Power wash over you, maybe you’ll find yourself wanting to do it too. – THE CUT

how well Lorde has pulled off one of the more difficult stunts in pop music: making a happy album that’s a good album. - VARIETY

Lorde has crafted a hushed, intimate collection of songs that are light on hooks and heavy on introspection. Its dispatches on the lure of fame and its ultimate emptiness sound like they were composed amid rustic domesticity. You won’t hear these tunes blasting out of cars. It’s a work made for a streaming world, not one driven by radio. These meditations don’t need to count on random encounters to win new fans—they’ll be passed around on social media by existing devotees and listened to alone on headphones. - ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY
